Bhutan: Happiness is a place

The trip started with a smooth landing at one of the world's most dangerous airports (Click for more on the airport), Paro, Bhutan, where we were immediately reminded that Bhutan is running with the happiness theme everywhere it can (see immigration card below).

On the trip into Bhutan, we had views of the Himalayas and Mt. Everest for most of the trip.

Everest is the tallest peak in this photo (and the world).

On our way to the capitol, Thimphu (rumored to be the world's only capitol city without a traffic light), we stopped at one of the oldest iron bridges.

Day 2: In and around Thimphu

There is a small club scene on Saturday nights in Thimphu.  Who knew?

Day 3: Big hillside Buddha and a trip over the mountain pass en route to Punakha

Phallus paintings are all over Bhutan

Day 4: back over the pass and all the way back to Paro

Day 5: Tiger's Nest (what you expect to see when you think of Bhutan).

And then it was back to Dehli on Day 6 for a few more days of vacation in India.
